Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

2016
Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Dense and penetrating with white flowers, lychee, guava, pineapple rind and under-ripe apricot. Swirling brings up sweet fruit, wet slate, complex herbs, gooseberry and key lime pie. The palate is fresh, firm and beautifully textured. It is much more generous than the Columbia Valley, and exudes class and refinement. This is a baby and will be worth trying over the next five years.

Vintage Notes

The 2016 Matthews Reserve Sauvignon Blanc was crafted exclusively from just two vineyard sites in Washington State, located in the Yakima Valley and Royal Slope region of the Columbia Valley. Farmed using sustainable practices, the vines were then hand-harvested in the late summer early mornings. Upon arriving at the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted, pressed with a bladder press in a static environment, and left to settle for 48 hours before being transferred to concrete eggs (85%) and stainless steel tanks (15%). Following over 40 individual evaluations by our winemaking team, the resulting barrels were bottled in February, producing only 196 cases.
