2019Royal Slope Cuvée
The 2019 Matthews Royal Slope Cuvée comes from several small vineyard parcels exclusively within the Royal Slope AVA. Hand-harvested in the fall, it was hand-sorted and fermented using a
combination of concrete and stainless steel. The free-run wine was cellared in French oak (60% new) for 23 months. Only 10 barrels were ultimately selected for the final blend, which was bottled in October of 2021.
Deep Ruby in color, initial aromas of mocha, ripe blueberry, and bramble evolve into charcoal, dried fruits, and red huckleberry with time in the glass. The broad palate offers a fresh acidity and polished tannin. Sweet baking spice, red plum, and a dusty minerality linger on the finish.
54% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc
